Brooklyn Steel, known for its industrial-chic ambiance and superb acoustics, was abuzz with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited the arrival of JXDN on stage. Attendees traveled from all over the East Coast, waiting up to 15 hours in the scorching heat to stand barricade for the 23-year-old alternative rock artist embarking on only his second headlining tour to date, a testament to his enduring influence in the music scene. The tour, featuring direct support from LØLØ and an opening act from Gunnar, promised a night of electrifying performances and it certainly delivered.

Gunnar kicked off the evening with an impressive set that immediately captured the audience's attention. With a sound that blends raw emotion and high-energy indie rock, Gunnar set the tone for the night and fans quickly fell in love with his entire presence. His embodiment of the stage was magnetic, at times directly engaging the crowd by handing the microphone to those in the front row for a sing-along and ending his set by hugging all those against the barricade out of gratitude. His vocals were powerful, resonating through the venue and sticking in the audience's head like the sweetest honey on the market. Highlights included the first song of his set, a cover of Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," which ignited a frenzy as everyone in the crowd sang and swayed along, as well as his final performance of "Dirty Blonde," where his lighthearted introduction re-engaged the crowd for a culminating dance party. Gunnar's ability to connect with the audience was on full display, leaving many new fans eager to hear more from this rising star. As the intermission period settled, multiple people approached me asking if I knew the opening act's name because "his voice was so beautiful."
Next up was LØLØ, who brought a fresh burst of pop-punk energy to the stage. Her set was a rollercoaster of emotions, combining catchy hooks with introspective, sometimes witty and humorous, lyrics. LØLØ's charismatic performance and dynamic vocal range had the audience dancing and chanting along throughout her entire set. My personal favorite moment came during the track "debbie downer," in which the young female artist distributed cheerleader poms to the crowd for them to wave around during the hooks. The sentiment was well-received, creating a communical moment, with fans sharing pom poms so everyone had an opportunity to participate during the song. Her interaction with the crowd, including heartfelt moments between songs where she shared the inspiration behind her tracks, added a personal touch to the performance, making it even more memorable and relatable.
As the lights dimmed and the intro music began to play, the anticipation for JXDN's performance reached its peak. When JXDN finally took the stage, puffing from a lit cigarette, the eruption of cheers and applause was deafening. Opening with the powerful leading track, "Stray," off his latest album, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS, he immediately commanded the stage with a presence that belied his years.
JXDN's set was a masterclass in modern rock and indie alternative genres, blending his viral hits with deeper cuts while also incorporating two cover songs that showcased his versatility as an artist. His vocals were on point, and his ability to convey emotion through his music was palpable. If you think JXDN is just another social media influencer attempting music to stay relevant, I sincerely urge you to buy tickets and witness his live performance. Jaden Hossler lays bare his heart and soul on every single stage he graces. Not only is his voice transcending, but his connection to the music is genuine and, at times, heart-wrenching. Standout moments included performances of "So What!" and "Angels and Demons," where the energy in the room was electric, with fans jumping and screaming along passionately.
A particularly poignant moment came when JXDN performed "When The Music Stops," the title track off his latest album that delves deep into his personal struggles and mental health. It was at this time Jaden requested that the audience close their eyes and appreciate the moment, forcing everyone to just absorb the music. The gesture came without any arrogance, rather confessed to the impact music has had on the artist personally as he revealed the ways in which music has saved him, especially recently following the death of his close friend, Cooper, to which the tour series donated a dollar of every ticket sale to Cooper's foundation offering support to those struggling with mental health adversities. It was a moment I hadn't realized I desperately needed. Admittedly, this show ended what had been a pretty terrible week for me, forcing myself to be present in the moment and just appreciate the singer's prowess reminded me of the profound impact music has had on me, how much it has healed parts of me, and helped me rediscover a purpose in life. The raw honesty and vulnerability he displayed struck a chord with the audience, creating a powerful and intimate connection that made everyone in the packed concert hall feel closer to the artist on stage. I even felt myself getting emotional during this segment, not only because I felt everything the artist was saying wholeheartedly, but also because I felt understood; no matter how stressful things can be, music will always be there as a crutch to understand and relate to the things I feel I'm battling alone.
The night concluded with Jaden's viral hit "Angels and Demons," leaving the crowd in awe and craving more. Chants for an encore echoed through the venue as if the impressive 20-song setlist was too short to satisfy the deep adoration the fans have for JXDN. Brooklyn Steel might've not been sold out but I can guarantee there won't be many more intimate shows like this in New York City for Jaden Hossler. If you missed out on this tour, I suggest you sign up for his mailing list now so you can snag tickets off pre-sale for the next series he embarks on; it won't be long before his tours sell out completely.
JXDN's performance at Brooklyn Steel was nothing short of spectacular. The combination of Gunnar's impressive opening, LØLØ's infectious energy, and JXDN's commanding stage presence created an unforgettable evening. Each artist brought their unique style and passion to the stage, making for a diverse and dynamic concert experience.
Brooklyn Steel once again proved to be the perfect venue for such an event, with excellent acoustic and an intimate atmosphere enhancing the performances. Fans left the venue buzzing with excitement, undoubtedly marking this concert as one of the highlights of their summer. JXDN's tour is a must-see, and his performance at Brooklyn Steel will be remembered as a night of pure musical magic.
