Airborne Toxic Event released a new song, "Glory." The title track off their seventh studio album, Glory, due out on September 6.

When I first listened to this song, I felt it was about lost love and retrieving it. However, a second, third, and even forth listen (yes, I had it on repeat) I learned so much more about this song. "Glory" expresses the story of feeling inadequate. From the perspective of being in the spotlight and traveling for said spotlight. Along the way watching others have love and wanting it for yourself. Putting on the face for the public because of being a musician and not opening oneself to love. The lies we tell ourselves about what we think our lives are going to be like, and knowing we deserve more, yet finding it difficult to accept that for ourselves.
This is a song that will resonate with all people of any age as many of us have or are currently struggling with a similar emotion. It is all too often that we are our own worst enemy and critic. In my opinion this song captures the sense of shortfalls felt within us all. Learning to open ourselves up to more is the greatest gift we can provide ourselves. Glory captures all these emotions from the beginning of the journey through its glorious end.
Frontman Mikel Jollett’s voice is superb, the grit within his tone truly provides the angst that delivers the honest and raw tenderness of despair. This song was quickly added to my favorites list, and I highly recommend you add it to yours.
Airborne Toxic Event will embark on tour this September celebrating Glory with its first show in Salt Lake City, Utah, September 5 and ending in San Diego, California, on October 21. I have seen them in concert, and they are even better live. If they are in or near your area I urge you to attend a show; you can thank me later.
