About the Releases
The remastered album and covers LP both drop on October 18th, 2024, via Polyvinyl Record Co. The remaster was done by Jonathan Pines, who originally worked on the album, bringing new life to the beloved tracks. The covers album showcases how American Football’s music has influenced a wide range of genres and artists over the years.
Sam Beam of Iron & Wine shared his thoughts on covering “Never Meant,” stating, "When I was asked to be part of this project, it felt like a perfect fit. I hope we did justice to a song that means so much to the fans."
Steve Lamos of American Football expressed the band’s gratitude for Beam’s involvement, noting how Iron & Wine's music feels like it could have been made by the band if they were a bit older when their debut was released.
Band Background
American Football started out as three college friends who recorded their debut album, now known as LP1, in just four days in 1999. Although they initially broke up after its release, the album grew into a cult classic over the years. The band reunited and has since released two more albums, solidifying their status as pioneers in the emo genre.
