As I Lay Dying recently released their second latest single “The Cave We Fear to Enter” with Napalm Records on July 9, 2024, the same day as they began their massive headlining tour in Santa Cruz, California. The new single has been highly anticipated since their first new single in five years, “Burden,” was released. “The Cave We Fear to Enter” starts out contemplative and gradually progresses into a powerful melodic metalcore ballad. Lead vocalist Tim Lambesis haunts with his signature growl and vocal talents.
The dark and brooding lyrics of “The Cave We Fear to Enter” are impressively deep and quick to connect with. Ryan Neff (bassist/vocalist) began the concept of the lyrics which inspired frontman and vocalist Tim Lambesis to run with the idea and carry it even further. Tim shared the background regarding the development of this incredible track: "This is the first time I’ve written lyrics based on an idea started by someone else in the band. Sometimes, when we try out different melodies, we’ll temporarily use words that just happen to fit as a placeholder. But on this song, Ryan chose words that he felt represented what he had been processing leading up to the demo.”
“The Cave We Fear to Enter” explores a more emotional and powerful message that is sure to captivate the audience as it is unveiled during their headlining U.S. tour and the one that follows in Europe beginning in Würzberg, Germany, November 15, 2024. The track is co-produced by guitarist Phil Sgrosso and Hiram Hernandez.
