Bastille's Dan Smith has embarked on a fascinating new musical journey with & (Ampersand), a collection of story songs that beautifully intertwine the lives of remarkable women and men. Smith's signature melodic power takes on a new twist in this project, with hushed, spellbinding sound worlds that bring to life poets, artists, scientists, and characters from myth and religion.
Released in four parts, with the full album set to drop on October 25, the first installment is out now and features four exquisite tracks that offer a glimpse into this unique record. "Intros & Narrators" sets the tone with its gentle guitar, introducing us to the characters whose stories will unfold throughout the album. The accompanying video, shot in the Sargasso Sea, serves as a poignant reminder of our place in the vast world.
Other tracks in Part One delve into the lives of Eve, Emily Dickinson, and Narcissus, each exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Click here to listen to "&, Part One."
