Sweet Spine

In the city of Greenville, South Carolina, Brannan, Taylor, and Fox are taking on the local music scene, with their new release "break//neck."

This album is an accumulation of over four years of inspiration, starting when Fox was in the ninth grade. Some groups that have inspired this album are Pierce the Veil, Skrillex, and even Coldplay. “This album is fundamentally different than the last,” said Fox. Up until this album, songs were produced by Fox alone. With this new release, they “gave their baby to a producer.” This album has intention compared to their last release titled “C-Section.” With "break//neck," every detail was planned, with more thought put into each detail within the songs.

Theme

The overall theme of "break//neck" has been connecting with the people. “The fans make this all possible and worth doing,” the band says this one is for them. Now that the album is finished, the band is excited that it is no longer theirs, it belongs to the fans. “It’s not our album, it never was,” says the band.

Mental health is an important topic on this record as well. It leans more towards punk than their previous record, but also is more raw. The hardest part of the album was setting aside their egos. They worked together for seven days straight to finish. Brannan and Taylor’s voices are also In the background of this new release.

Brannan’s favorite song is "poison," while Taylor’s favorite is "Phygian" to write, but her favorite song to play is "poison." Fox’s favorite is "dead//Sarah" and says, “It’s because it’s what I wanted to say and it’s raw and holds a lot of emotional weight for me.” “There were no standards or expectations during the writing process,” says Taylor. "dead//sarah" and "Take a Break" are metaphors for anxiety and depression, “That’s Sweet Spine” says Brannan. “Mental health is one of the most important topics to be written and normalized.”

On another exciting note, the band got on the cover of a Spotify playlist.
