On August 9, 2024, Colorblind released their newest single "Needle Eye" and this has easily became one of my favorite songs because of the meaning behind the lyrics. I relate so much to this song and I love that this band is not afraid to create music that has deep meaning behind it because not everyone wants to admit that they have destructive behaviors that were learned from past relationships.

"Been having a hard time letting you go; It’s gonna take some time to patch me up." This lyric is very relatable because when a breakup first occurs, it's so hard to let go of that person even if they were toxic to you. The other part is also very true because it takes time to heal from relationships that were toxic and it's hard to make yourself realize that you deserve to heal.

"Tell me how do you sleep at night ; You cut me open and just set me aside ; Can’t fit my love for you through a needle eye ; Don’t wanna hear the truth ; Think I need a lie Baby, just so I can get through the night ; Tomorrow I will say goodbye." The chorus hit me really hard because I'd rather the person that I loved tell me a lie stating they are sorry, or even if they loved me still, so I can stop overthinking constantly. Sometimes you need that lie to help you continue throughout the day even though you know deep down inside it's only going to hurt you even more.

"Wasted days Drinking to forget I’m letting you go ; I’m ashamed to say I’m not over you ; I turn to someone else to ease my pain ; End up doing the same damn thing ; You reap what you sow ; And become what you hate ; Maybe I’m to blame" The next part of the song is also very relatable because people tend to abuse substances to numb those feelings and, sadly, we tend to try to find that person who hurt us in ANOTHER person. You realize that you will hurt the new person with those same behaviors that you learned from your previous relationship. It's honestly a non-ending cycle of hurt and never truly healing. You learn those behaviors and those actions come out in full force to the other person that doesn't deserve it. And you sit there thinking, "Maybe I was the problem the whole time" which isn't true at all

This is what the band stated about the newest single, "Needle Eye' is the awareness that we have adopted destructive behaviors that were used against us in past relationships, causing us to harm the ones we love. There is no such thing as love without damage. The decision to break inter-relational cycles requires us to take a raw and honest look at ourselves. It is the choice to take the mirror we use to deflect and turn it toward ourselves."
