Just shy of his 3,000th show, Frank Turner is proving himself a force to be reckoned with, both musically and philanthropically. Fresh off the U.S. leg of his "Undefeated" tour, Turner cemented his status as a rock and roll champion, not just for his music, but for his dedication to a worthy cause.
Partnering with Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a non-profit dedicated to supporting music professionals facing mental health challenges, Turner turned his tour into a platform for positive change. The unique fundraising effort, a sweepstakes for a signed guitar used on tour, proved to be a knockout punch, raising an impressive $18,158. Fans across the country eagerly participated, with all proceeds going directly to Sweet Relief for distribution as grants to music industry professionals in need of mental health care.
Aric Steinberg, EVP of Development and Artist Relations at Sweet Relief couldn't be more grateful. "Frank's unwavering commitment and dedication were truly inspiring," Steinberg said, highlighting Turner's "genuine generosity." "The impact on these music professionals will be immeasurable. On behalf of everyone who will benefit from this incredible donation, a huge thank you to Frank!"
Turner echoes the sentiment, praising Sweet Relief's crucial work. "Having them on board was an honor," he stated. "The work they do is vitally important, and lending a hand was the least I could do." He also expressed pride in his fans' enthusiastic participation, adding, "I'm incredibly proud that they helped raise such a significant amount of money."
This charitable endeavor wasn't the only highlight of Turner's recent run. He recently announced a fall leg of his North American tour kicking off on August 27, traversing the U.S. Midwest and Canada, culminating in his renowned Lost Evenings VII Festival in Toronto. Additionally, in May, Turner made headlines by shattering the world record for the most official shows in different cities within 24 hours. This impressive feat, supporting grassroots venues and independent record stores, further solidified his commitment to the music community.
Musically, Turner continues to thrive. His latest album, Undefeated, his tenth studio effort, has garnered critical acclaim, delving into themes of aging, love, loss, and the lingering effects of the pandemic. With upcoming tour dates, a critically acclaimed album, and a steadfast dedication to making a difference, Frank Turner continues to prove he's an unstoppable force, both on and off the stage.
