Legendary county musicians Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylan Jennings, and Willie
Nelson formed a traveling band called The Highwaymen, they travelled across the U.S. bring
audiences young and old their style of country music. Between 1985 and 1995 the
group produced three albums. All four of these artists had also established themselves as individual artists known worldwide.
Keeping the original artist music alive, The Highwaymen Show travels the world and brings
outlaw country music to a new generation. They perform their music and tell stories of the
legendary group. The four musicians walk, talk, and sing like the original artists. A great
opportunity for people that missed the performances in the 80’s and 90’s.
Coming into Alamogordo, New Mexico, performing at the Flickinger Art Center, Willie Nelson
couldn't make the trip due to an illness, but the other three members of the band did a great
job singing his songs. They started their performance with one of their # 1 song hits, “Highwayman.” Johnny Cash tells a story and tells us about his days at Folsom prison with
his famous song, “Folsom Prison Blues.” Each artist performed their favorite songs, and
they also performed an amazing version of "Seven Spanish Angels."
The guitar that Waylon Jennings was playing was the same guitar that Waylon Jennings
used to perform the theme song to “Dukes of Hazzard” As the band came to the end of the
night they performed as a group “Ghost Riders in the Sky.” The audiences stood up and
cheered at the end, as the band exited the stage, a man approached the stage and
requested one of the members of the band to do an encore, which the band agreed they
needed to do an encore. They stepped back on stage and finished the show with, “On the
Road Again.”
