Tom Walker is a Scottish singer-songwriter who has taken the world by storm! His ability to truly make you feel every emotion in his songs is extraordinary and not something every singer can achieve. He writes from his personal experiences which I think everyone can relate to one way or another. Sometimes it feels as if he has somehow managed to put your own feelings into words and songs when you yourself couldn’t even express them properly and I think that will definitely continue in his new album “I Am.” As Tom stated, “This record is a snapshot of what's been going on in my life, and what's been happening around me – what's made me happy or sad, ecstatic or miserable.” This album deals with his own personal struggles and anxieties, which is something many people struggle with and will be able to empathize with. "Holy Ghost" is undeniably a love song that captures raw emotion, longing, and a strong need for the other person leading to a sense of belonging. The song definitely has biblical imagery, a couple of examples are of course “holy ghost," “on my knees at your altar,” and references to heaven. Tom explains “It’s a bit like the kind of soul that’s in Take Me to Church, but with darkness, too.” Which I can totally hear when listening to the song. If you are a fan of “Take Me to Church” it is highly likely you will like “Holy Ghost” as well so definitely give it a listen.
The love and hard work Tom puts into his music are evident in all his songs one of my all-time favourites is “Leave a Light On.” You can hear the passion in his music and to back that up Tom stated about his new album that “I will die for these songs. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve felt like that.” It shows how passionate he is about the new album, which makes me instantly excited to listen to it. I’m definitely saving the date for its release.
The Scottish singer has been playing sold-out shows on his U.K. headline tour and has also been making pop-up experiences in the U.K. if you missed any of these chances to see him live, don’t worry, he has more shows coming up this year.
