Leah Chisholm, better known as LP Giobbi, has announced the release of her second album, "Dotr," set to drop on October 18 via Ninja Tune's Counter Records. Along with this exciting news, LP Giobbi has shared her latest single, "Bittersweet," featuring vocals from Portugal. The Man. The track blends groovy, Chic-like funk beats with captivating melodies, creating a unique and engaging sound.
"Bittersweet" and Collaboration with Portugal. The Man
LP Giobbi has expressed her admiration for Portugal. The Man, noting that they have been her favorite band since 2012. She reminisces about the many late-night jam sessions she had to their album "In the Mountain in the Cloud." The collaboration on "Bittersweet" came about after she was asked to remix one of their songs a few years ago. The experience of working with them was incredibly meaningful to her, as she describes the vocal on "Bittersweet" as one of the most attention-grabbing melodies she has heard in a long time.
An Album Rooted in Personal Connections
"Dotr" is the much-anticipated follow-up to LP Giobbi's breakout 2023 album "Light Places," which earned her several accolades including DJ Mag's Best Producer of 2023 and recognition from NPR, Spotify RADAR, Amazon, and TIDAL as one of the Artists to Watch. With over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 340 million streams across platforms, LP Giobbi has made a significant impact on the music scene.
"Dotr" is built from candid recordings of friends and mentors, featuring vocal lines from peers and heroes like Brittany Howard, Panama, Danielle Ponder, and more. The album is an attempt to capture the comforts of home amidst the busy life of a touring artist. The title, "Dotr," is a nod to the way LP Giobbi used to sign notes to her parents as a child, reflecting themes of family, home, and personal growth.
The album also addresses themes of loss and grief, inspired by the passing of several important figures in LP Giobbi's life: her mother-in-law Patricia Lynn, her piano teacher Carolyn Horn, and a family friend, Suse Millman. Despite these themes, "Dotr" is ultimately a joyous project that celebrates life and the journey through various emotions.
"Dotr" features a diverse range of tracks, including:

About LP Giobbi
LP Giobbi is not only a talented producer and DJ but also a major advocate for inclusion and equity in the electronic music world. She founded the nonprofit organization FEMME HOUSE in 2019, which provides production workshops, online courses, and scholarship programs for female and gender-expansive individuals. The organization aims to address the gender disparities in dance music, where women make up only two percent of producers.
Amidst the chaos of her rapidly growing career, LP Giobbi's music always brings her back to her roots. The last song on the album features her singing for the first time on record, with lyrics that reflect on her journey and the various worlds she has experienced since leaving home. "Dotr" is a testament to LP Giobbi's growth as an artist and an individual, and it promises to be a significant and heartfelt addition to her discography.
