Last Friday, the spotlight shined bright for the opening night of DRAG: The Musical!
Returning to the stage at the Bourbon Room in Los Angeles by popular demand, DRAG: The Musical is the brainchild of Drag Race icon Alaska Thunderfuck, who co-wrote the script and takes center stage in the production.
Alaska, pictured above, is joined by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Banks, and Adam Shankman. Ferguson and Banks expressed their admiration for the show on Instagram.
DRAG: The Musical, written by Alaska alongside her longtime musical partners, the certified platinum songwriter/producer Tomas Costanza and celebrity song stylist Ashley Gordon, clinched the title of Best New Play Or Musical at both the 2022 Broadway World Los Angeles Awards and the 2023 Queerties Award for Live Theater. The production narrates the tale of two competing drag bars entangled in a battle for survival amidst financial hardship
The show which debuted at the Bourbon Room in 2022 features an impressive lineup including New Kids On The Block’s Joey McIntyre, drag luminary Manila Luzon, and Broadway sensation Nick Adams. The cast also includes fan favorites like Jujubee, Jan Sport, Lagoona Bloo, and many others.
