Indie rock project Michigander, led by singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jason Singer, has released its long awaited new single “Giving Up.” Fans have highly anticipated the release of this single since Singer initially began teasing the unreleased track on his socials back in March and, since its release, “Giving Up” has quickly become one of Michigander’s most successful hits to date. The song, which immediately earned airplay with nationwide Alt Rock radio outlets, was featured as the cover of Spotify’s The New Alt, and had the #1 spot on The New Rock (Apple Music) and The Hot Rock (Tidal). “Giving Up” also had immediate success on popular playlists such as New Music Friday and It’s Alt Good (Spotify), New Music Daily, Trending Songs, New In Rock, and New in Alternative (Apple Music), Brand New Rock and Fresh Indie (Amazon Music), and Eclectic Rock (YouTube Music).
On the single, Jason Singer said the following: “I was so excited after I wrote this song. It’s an anthem for the people pleasers who are always trying to make other folks happy. They go to great lengths to make things work out in situations where it’s really not worth their time or good for their mental health. It’s a special song for me, because it’s self-referential.”

Along with the release of “Giving Up,” which is available via Michigander’s imprint Totally Normal Records via Thirty Tigers, Michigander has also released an official music video. The music video, directed by Tyler Appel (Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, Manchester Orchestra), is available for streaming now on YouTube. Watch it here.
Big things are in store for Michigander. To celebrate the release of “Giving Up,” along with more new music to come, Michigander will embark on a headlining tour beginning October 10 in Cincinnati, OH. The Broadcast Starring Michigander Tour will make its way to venues all across the U.S., ending at the Basement East in Nashville, TN, on February 7, 2025. Michigander will be joined by supporting acts Cece Coakley (October 10-November 22) and Sydney Sprague (January 14-February 7, 2025).
Prior to tour kicking off in October, Michigander will do a number of solo acoustic performances in support of Crowded House during the first week of September.
