Minneapolis-based ska-punk band Stacked Like Pancakes has unveiled their highly anticipated new EP, Everything Happens! This high-energy, six-song EP is a celebration of the ska-punk genre, featuring lively collaborations with Henry Menzel of Keep Flying, Devon Kay of Devon Kay and the Solutions, Vincent Walker of Suburban Legends, Shelby Muniz of Hoity Toity, and Scott Klopfenstein of The Littlest Man Band.
Everything Happens! captures the quintessential elements that fans love about ska-punk: humor-laden lyrics addressing serious themes and infectious music that makes you want to move. The EP's opening line, "Everything happens for a reason, well fuck everything!" from the lead single and title track "Everything Happens," sets the tone for a witty and playful project. The songs tackle daily struggles, the challenges of growing older, and navigating the music industry, all wrapped in bright, dynamic instrumentals.
“It was incredibly refreshing to go back to my roots as a songwriter, idolizing bands like Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and the Kids Table, and Less Than Jake,” says singer and guitarist Kellen McKay. “Those bands are the reason Stacked Like Pancakes exists, and I channeled the energy I felt when I started the band to write these new songs. They are mostly ska with a signature Stacked Like Pancakes flavor, and we genuinely believe this is the best music we’ve released to date. We also set a goal of having the most authentic horn sound possible; not overproduced – just real and raw horns like so many of the ska albums we grew up listening to.”
Stacked Like Pancakes has proven their dedication and hard work, evolving from a high school basement band to playing huge festivals and tours. McKay emphasizes the band's commitment to delivering the best live show possible, regardless of the audience size. This energetic music and engaging performances have garnered the band over 35,000 monthly listeners and over 8 million collective streams on Spotify.
“One thing that has always stood out to me was learning how approachable our music is. We have a lot of younger fans, but their parents who take them to our shows have a great time too,” says McKay. “This was especially evident during our years on the Vans Warped Tour. We’ve always stayed true to putting on our best, high-energy show no matter who or how many people are in the crowd.”

Formed in 2007 in singer and guitarist Kellen McKay's basement, Stacked Like Pancakes combines elements of ska, punk rock, and alternative genres. After their 2011 debut album We're Not Insane, the band played four years of the legendary Vans Warped Tour and toured with Reel Big Fish in 2016. Beyond music, the band is dedicated to raising awareness towards social issues and participates in community-orientated initiatives, including their annual #PancakeNation charity event, which has generated donations for John Hopkins Children's Center, Ukrainian refugees, and families in Palestine.
