On September 9, 2024, Nothing More performed at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, with special guests Set It Off, From Ashes to New, and Post Profit. I think I been to this venue once before, I can't figure out what show I saw here, but the venue was so beautiful. And the audience had energy from the second the opener started to the very end!
Opening the night was Post Profit and I have never heard of them before, but HOLY COW! Their performance set the tone for the WHOLE show! They remind me of Magnolia Park and Sleep Theory a little bit with the amount of energy they have! It was so hard to focus on photographing because I couldn't keep my eyes off of the band at all. I was so focused at some points when the vocalist started playing guitar and I was not expecting all of this talent!
Post Profit is from Texas and we all know bands that come from Texas are always worth listening to! The band consists of Matt Jackson (Vocals/Guitar), Nick Hawner (Guitar), Zach Hicks (Drums), and Charles Horin (Bass) Since I didn't know the band when I saw them, I couldn't tell you what songs they performed, but I can tell you the crowd never stopped moving. While I was walking around enjoying the performance, I stumbled upon an attendee with their young child and the child was rocking out harder than their parents. I just looked at them in awe because I always see parents bringing their younger kids to shows, but this was a little different. I feel like the parents had no idea what was going on and they were just pretending to enjoy the moment because their kid was having a good time. It was really funny, but I am happy to see the younger generation having a good time!
Next up was From Ashes to New! I saw this band several times within the last year and photographed them about five times! Every time I see this band, their performance gets better and better. Their stage production is insane and so eye catching which makes you not want to stop looking at them throughout their whole set.
From Ashes to New consists of Danny Case (Lead Vocals), Matt Brandyberry (Rap Vocals), Lance Dowdle (Lead Guitar), Mat Madrio (Drums), and Jimmy Bennett (Guitar). This band is the true definition of "energy" because every single member in this band are CONSTANTLY moving and it's so difficult to get photos of everyone. Matt stated during the set "We weren't able to use all of our production like we usually do due to the stage being small, but guess what? We aren't going to sit here and CANCEL just because we don't have our flashy lights. We are here to put on a show for everyone and that's what music is all about." The statement is clearly about when Ronnie Radke cancelled his show in Charlotte, NC, due to production complications which I am still upset about because I drove three hours to photograph that show and four minutes before VIP were allowed in, they cancelled the event.
It's crazy that it happened because you don't need all the fancy lights and everything to put on a show. You are there to provide entertainment to the fans and Radke sadly didn't do that. So, I have a lot of respect for the From Ashes to New guys because their production is usually out of this world, but they know stuff happens and not every venue can provide a big enough space for all the musicians on the lineup to have their production set up. The band performed songs such as "Nightmare," "Monster in Me," and "Barely Breathing." I can't wait to see them again on Friday in Myrtle Beach! Every time they come near me, I always have to see them twice!
Next was Set It Off and I saw them recently on their tour with Death By Romy and Crown The Empire! Sadly I didn't get to see Caskets on their tour because they were having problems with their visas to get into the U.S. I believe the band opened their set with "Parasite" and I thought the venue was going to crumble into pieces with how much energy the crowd was giving. Between the vocalist and the crowd, I feel like the crowd was winning with how loud they were singing. They also played "Fake Ass Friends" and I relate to this song so much lately because so many people in my life has dropped me because I "photograph" too much or that I talk about my achievements too much in my photography career. No person on this planet will ever make me feel like I can't express my love and enjoyment for something; this song is perfect! I sung my heart out to this song!
It was time for Nothing More! I personally never listened to this band until that night and they blew me away. The light production for their set was one of the best I've seen in a very long time. And every single song was amazing. The crowd at the barricade, including my two friends, went feral once Jonny went on stage! I knew that Jonny comes out on stage with no shirt and shoes, so, yes, I was thinking to myself "How is this man even stepping on this stage with no socks or shoes?"
Besides that, the band has became one of my favorites and I haven't stopped listening to their newest album "Carnal" that was released earlier this year! The band formed in 2003 in Texas consisting of Jonny Hawkins (Vocals), Mark Vollelunga (Guitar/Back Vocals), Daniel Oliver (Bass Guitar/Back Vocals), and Ben Anderson (Drums). If you want to see a vocalist go insane on drums, you have to see this band live! Hawkins does a drum solo during mid set and I have never seen something like this! He also went into the crowd at the barricade and had people hold him up by his feet while others held onto the drums. Now that is a PERFORMANCE! Left me speechless!
They performed songs such as "Angel Song," "If It Doesn't Hurt," and "House on Sand." There were so many crowd surfers that night that I couldn't even keep count! Hawkin's knows how to put on a show that's so energetic and unforgettable! Can't wait to see them Friday again! And, yes, I will be crowd surfing constantly!
