Philadelphia's punk band, The Bad Ups, is set to release their new album, 'Life of Sin,' on September 27 via Jump Start Records.
The four-piece band pulls heavy influences from the 90s and early 2000s punk scenes, reminiscent of Epitaph and Fat Wreck Chords, while also infusing ska and reggae rhythms into their music. With a nod to Bad Brains, they mix these genres to create their own unique sound.
The band's name, The Bad Ups, comes from the Caribbean patois word “baddup,” which means to treat someone harshly or violently. McKayle, who has Jamaican heritage, chose the name to reflect their intense music style and cultural roots.
Since forming in 2018, The Bad Ups have built a solid following and have played alongside notable bands like Face to Face, The Bouncing Souls, The Adicts, and Street Dogs. Their music appeals to a variety of punk subcultures, from ska to oi, making them a versatile addition to any lineup.
The band is gearing up for a national and international tour to promote their debut LP, 'Life of Sin.'

Frontman Travis McKayle describes "Ego Trip" as a track about discovering your place in the world while staying true to yourself.
"With its big, chunky, chord-based guitars and shout-along choruses, it captures the spirit of the classic Epitaph sound perfectly."- New Noise
