Now Available to Stream on Metal Blade Records
Rivers of Nihil, a progressive death metal band from Reading, Pennsylvania, proudly announces the release of an instrumental version of their acclaimed full-length album, The Work. This version is now available through Metal Blade Records.
After signing with Metal Blade Records in 2012, Rivers of Nihil quickly embarked on new projects, consistently releasing hit albums. Their rapid rise to fame made them a significant force in the death metal scene. They toured extensively with notable bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, and Revocation.
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the band dedicated extensive time to writing music for The Work, which was first released in September 2021. The album was an immediate success, showcasing the band's musical diversity. The Work focused on the winter season and received praise for its ambitious scope and lyrical depth. Guitarist Brody Uttley refers to the final product as a "Sound World," a concept introduced to him by a friend. "It's an album that almost sounds like a place rather than a thing. It puts you in this world where you're not exactly sure what is going on at certain points, but eventually, it all comes together. It's harsh and cold, but also warm and inviting."
