Honey & Virosa
They are a five-piece melodic metal band from El Paso, Texas, they perform across the south primarily in Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico. Their music is heavy and aggressive with strong vocals, the instrumentals are well orchestrated combining two guitars, with strong bass and
drumbeats. At the beginning of 2024, they released their debut album “Honey & Virosa,"
they performed the songs from this album, songs such as “Strawberry Strawberry,” “Choke,” and “Groundhog Day.”
Honey & Virosa are continuing to tour in the area, in March they were traveling from Texas
into New Mexico, in April they performed in Texas, then in May they will cross the border
heading into Mexico. They are a young band, making sure that people know who they
are, performing in multiple areas with multiple cultures.
You can find their music on multiple streaming services and their webpage, where you
can also listen to their latest album.
Burning Sunday
They are more than your normal heavy metal band from Alamogordo, New Mexico, they
have been known to perform at ballparks, store parking lots, on the street, and at a
haunted house. They have performed in multiple cities in New Mexico, Texas and soon
to add California to their list of places. Bart Man is an original member of the
band, lead singer, songwriter, music and festival promoter, and promoter of Krunch
Cabinets, makers of amplifiers and speakers. This is all to say, Bart Man knows how to put on a show and engage an audience.
Burning Sunday’s music reflects a human’s right to our freedom, and the fight to
save those freedoms. Hammering out guitar solos heightened with bass riffs
backed by hard-driving drums, bring you on a musical journey you didn't know you
wanted to be on until the last note is struck. After all the years they have been performing, many musicians have gotten their start with Burning Sunday, and many
have moved on to start their own bands. At the end of every one of their festivals in the
spring and fall, all former members and friends of the band can come on stage and sing.
This unity built by Burning Sunday is the building block to successful musicians.

Shalem
A three-piece metal band from Las Cruces, New Mexico, mostly performing original songs, they slam out rock songs you feel inclined to sing along with, they sing of life, and living it to the fullest.
The lead singer and guitarist Travis James Manning is the driving force to keeping
heavy metal rock and roll from floating down the Rio Grande. Besides being the lead for
Shalem, he is also the singer/songwriter for two other bands and runs Nasty Cactus
Studio. His passion for local music has put him in charge of Southwest Metal Fest in Las
Cruces, New Mexico, where he brings together as many local bands as he can to promote heavy metal rock in Southern New Mexico.
Shalem is the kind of band you could invite over for a pizza party and by the end of the
night you are sitting on your back porch, drinking beer and jamming classic rock songs.
They are guys you would call your neighbor and they would have your back.

Ojo Malo
Ojo Malo, meaning Evil Eye when translated into English, is a stoner metal band turned
sludge metal, creating a sensation as if you have taken a toke from the first note. Their
heavy beats and driving sound are solid reminders of why they have already worked
with some top names in the business. Ojo Malo has opened for the likes of Accept, Twin Wizards, Mac Sabbath, Raven, Riot, Wednesday 13, Ape Machine, Conan in just their first year.
I happened to run across this band last year at a fest in Alamogordo they blew me away
from their first song, if there had been a mosh pit I would have been there. Steve
Salazar (Vocals), Mike Mosholder (Guitar), Oscar Gomez (Bass), Matt Wojciechowski (Drums)
bring every bit of energy out of your soul, time slows down when they hit the stage, they just know how to hold you.
Ojo Malo released an album in 2023 named “Black Light Fever Tripping” featuring
songs like “Crow Man”, “Black Trip Lord”, and “Executioner.” All of these are in the top five of
their songs listened to on Spotify. They rolled out of the gate with guns blazing. I am glad
to know I was able to catch them at the beginning to enjoy the ride.

Signal 99
Signal 99, a Navajo-bred band from Farmington, New Mexico, brought their flavor of heavy
metal rock to the rest of the world by performing songs from the dirt of the
desert. They sing about multiple sclerosis, substance abuse, and domestic violence, they
bring you their experiences growing up in poverty-ridden areas, helping people young
and old see there is a way to survive what seems to be hopeless. They are not just a
band they are an experience, with hard-driving lyrics that explode out of speakers.
Chuck Haven as their main lyricist and vocalist, Richard John Jr. on bass, and Arlo
“The Animal” on the drums.
These guys make you want to listen to their message, you can hear the depth of their experiences in each song. They are here to give you a siren call that they are still fighting the good fight and sharing the message of hope. The depth of these men's hearts is deeper than most, their passion to bring you a message is in every word. If there is a band this year that you need to seek out it is Signal 99.
Since 2008 they have continually released albums with their most recent being in 2021, “Revolution” in which they performed the title track, it brings the message to fight for your rights. They also performed “American Monster” and “Candy,” two songs that I
could really relate to. There isn't a bad song in all of their set. You need to search for
their music to really understand the passion they have to deliver every message you will
take from them.
