Summer School comes to rock New Jersey

Music conjures all different kinds of feelings and emotions. And we turn to music to justify our mood or feelings, and oftentimes to change it. From love, to rage, to sadness, to a sense of calmness, music has that unique ability to hit us right in the feels…whatever those feels are at the moment. At The Summer School Tour at Starland Ballroom, I got to experience an event chock full of one particular emotion…happiness. Every single member of each band had the biggest smile on their faces while they rocked out to packed house!

Despite their name, Letdown was anything but. They kickstarted what was arguably the most positive, happy, concert I’ve ever attended! You could literally feel the excitement when they played one of their more popular songs “Go to Hell,” with everyone singing their hearts out. After their set, the band made their way to the merch table and talked, and took photos, with every single fan who stopped by!

Next up was Honey Revenge. When you look up “happy bands” there should be a picture of them! All dressed alike in pink, their positive energy and smiles across their faces could make the saddest person in the room happy.

When The Home Team took the stage, Starland Ballroom went berserk! Their amazing stage presence, and of course the dancing bear on stage, really had the crowd going. And I’m sure people lost their voices after their passionate performance of “Walk This World With Me.” You could tell they just really love being on stage.

All the way from ‘Down Under’ was the band Stand Atlantic. The Aussie group received an awesome ovation from the Jersey faithful and were welcomed with open arms! They are a super fun band and kept the energy going! Definitely give them a listen if you haven’t already.

As soon as Hanna Rose from Scene Queen took the stage, with her gorgeous pink and glittery outfit, all the girls in the crowd went wild! The whole band rocked the house, but Hanna really brought it! Her positive message to women was as empowering as her performance!

Last, but definitely not least, was Magnolia Park. One word…WOW! This pop-punk band from Florida closed out the show with a high-energy set that kept everyone bouncing and singing the entire time! They even brought out New Jersey’s own, Ethan Ross, for a song!

This tour had six bands, and because of their energy and positivity, nothing was stopping this sweat-soaked crowd from enjoying another great night at Starland Ballroom!
