Boulder, CO – July 26, 2024

The Fray is set to headline the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado, on Friday, July 26. This concert marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the storied career of these Denver natives. The Fray will feature vocalist/guitarist Joe King taking over lead vocal duties, alongside longtime members Dave Welsh on guitar and Ben Wysocki on drums. The performance will also include the talents of Dane Poppin on bass and Kai Welch on keys.
The four-time Grammy-nominated band’s music has garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase worldwide. Their debut album, How To Save A Life (2005), is certified double-platinum in the U.S. and features the titular single that spent an impressive 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Fox Theater holds a profound significance for The Fray. When the band first emerged in the early 2000s, the Boulder venue was the site of some of their most pivotal early performances. As shared in a recent Instagram post, the band reminisced about their beginnings: "Every story has a beginning, middle, and an end. The Fox Theater in Boulder, CO was the start of our story."
Their journey started with persistent calls to the Fox's manager, hoping to secure an opening slot for any act passing through. Their perseverance paid off, and on February 22, 2004, The Fray played their first show at the Fox Theater. That initial performance led to several more, and on December 17, 2004, the band chose to share a momentous occasion with their fans by signing their record deal on the Fox Theater stage. The venue was also the backdrop for the filming of their first music video for "Over My Head (Cable Car)" in 2005, a song which helped catapult them to fame.
In their Instagram post, the band expressed their deep connection to the venue and their excitement for the upcoming show: "We learned how to be a live band on that stage, we grew up on that stage, it’s our home. There is no other venue, no other city, that Ben, Dave, and I would rather play as we begin again, now in the middle of our story."
As The Fray takes the stage at the Fox Theater once again, they do so not only with a sense of nostalgia but with renewed energy and purpose.
