Walker Hayes recently took the stage at The Mill in Terre Haute, Indiana, on May 31, 2024. During his performance Walker took time to speak to Terre Haute locals. Walker told his fans a heartfelt story about a time in his life prior to his fame where he and his family were struggling for safe transportation, and driving in a run-down vehicle. Walker proceeded to mention a man named Craig who one day showed up and provided his family with a vehicle safe for driving. Walker has been forever grateful for Craig’s gift to his family. Recently Walker found a way to pay it forward.
Recently seen on America’s Got Talent former Terre Haute Native, Richard Goodall, received the Golden Buzzer for his performance of "Don’t Stop Believin" by Journey. Upon Richard’s return home to Terre Haute, Indiana, he was met with celebrity treatment from community members. Richard made frequent appearances at local celebrations and festivities to perform, and was even asked to perform prior to opening for Walker Hayes at The Mill. Richard worked as a former janitor for the Vigo County School Cooperation. He recently announced his retirement from the position to pursue his music career.
The community of Terre Haute, and surrounding communities pulled together to help raise funds for Richard in order to ensure that Richard could return to the AGT finals in California. The community of Terre Haute threw a send off party for Richard and his wife. Little did Richard know that he would be greeted by Walker Hayes during his send off. Walker presented to help locals gift Richard with a brand new 2024 Buick Encore GX. from Fusion Automotive. Walker, however, did not give this gift on his own. Partnering with The Mill, Vigo County School Cooperation, WTWO TV, and many other local organizations this gift was made possible for Richard. Over the course of the next week Richard will be pursuing his dreams in front of AGT judges. Vigo County and surrounding areas are proceeding to root for Richard on his journey.
